Sensitive location; strong environmental focus. Filling of degraded gully to varying depths of five to nine metres to create a wetland environment. Comprises ponds connected by dense reed beds and rock lined chutes fringed with vegetation. Terraced gabion walls and reinforced earth structure retained filling and lets water to fall to the beach without erosion. Rapid construction program avoided environmental damage. Vigilant management of machinery access and movement to protect sensitive site.
